Of Curse and Good Cheer by Jen, 7/5/04 "These things have I spoken unto you, that you should not be offended ." -Jesus God told us these things would come to pass; in fact they must, before Christ comes. But it can be so hard to take: A new "politically correct" false Bible perverting the words of God; manipulative prayer cards promoting abortion by thanking God "because you listen to us without judging, because you know our heart and you respect the intimacy of our decisions;" Ivy league professors reprogramming our children to deny God; tyrannical judges favoring prayer to Allah in public school while denigrating Christianity; the will of the people completely ignored as judges impose gay marriage on our nation. (Gays are already DEMANDING equal rights for ads with men in liplock with each other). Is it time to curse those who would pervert the word of God and strive to darken the hearts of His children? Paul cursed Elymus to blindness for doing such things. On the other hand, Jesus rebuked the "sons of thunder" for asking if they should call down fire on the town that rejected Him. Jesus showed us not to respond in anger to those who mock and reject us. But Jesus Himself turned over tables when men attempted to twist the word of God. So I prayed and asked for His leading, knowing there could be heavy consequences if Christians all over the nation began to curse those in our government and judicial system that are perpetrating and promoting such abominable acts. And everywhere I went God answered me through the Bible, through my church, through Chuck Smith on the radio and through April Shenandoah. "These things have I spoken unto you, that you should not be offended. They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time comes that whosoever kills you will think he does God service. (John 16:1) "Behold, the hour comes, yea, is now come, that you shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." (John 16:32) "Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that you be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet." (Mat 24:4) "As the Father hath loved Me, so have I loved you, continue ye in My love. If ye keep My commandments, ye shall abide in My love, even as I have kept My Father’s commandments, and abide in His love. These things have I spoken unto you, that My joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:9) We cannot stand aside as lukewarm Christians and do nothing, but always remember, be of good cheer. I have often forgotten that. So many have written emails of outrage over these dark events, feelings that I share. But don’t fall into the traps that I’ve fallen in, do not let the world rob you of your joy in Him. We cannot stop loving even those who prey upon our children. They have no idea what they’re doing. God sees all, God knows all, God told us it would be like this. I pray God refresh us as we follow Him. Let us pray for one another as these times get so dark. And don’t forget to pray that the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel, doesn’t happen in "cheimon" (a heavy storm/winter) or on the Sabbath. (Mat 24:15, Mark 13:18) I don’t pretend to know exactly what that means, but Christ told us to pray about it, how many of us forget? (biting lip) Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, for your fellowship in the Gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He which has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. (Phil 1) Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.
