I found an article at "SoundVision.com" where Abigail Jungreis, Editorial Director for Houghton Mifflin is quoted:  "It is also with the help of the CIE that Jungreis says Houghton Mifflin's textbooks have been able to show what Crusades were like for the Muslims. “We've been able to give several perspectives on an event like that,” she says.”  "We see our reviewers as playing a crucial role in enabling us to present accurate and complete information,” she notes. “In this day and age there's no way anybody can be an expert on all aspects of history or social studies subjects." WOW!!!  Review what  Houghton Mifflin's website states:  7.  HM’s Q:  Did the CIE or any other religious group contribute to the writing of either “A Message of Ancient Days” or “Across the Centuries”? HM’s A:   No, the scope of their involvement was limited to reviewing the textbook material. The CIE's mandate has broadened to include more than just critiquing textbooks. The organization has also produced publications that can be used as supplemental teaching guides to help teach about Islam and Muslims. Mansuri says the CIE has also trained over 8,000 teachers about teaching Islam in public schools. They have a speakers' bureau, and have spoken to over 100,000 students. It conducts in-service workshops for schools, districts and organizations, participates in annual education conferences. Mansuri's response to the CIE's success is humble. “Our job is to share to the best of our ability to share the message of Islam without becoming a bigger obstacle in His Path than we already are,” he says simply.
